First aid
- Updated 28.2.2012
There will be appropriate first aid kit available at all sports venues. Also at least one first aid trained person will be in each sport place (in judo there will be a qualified doctor). This person will guide the patient to the after-treatment if needed. Written instructions about alternatives for aftertreatment are distributed to all team leaders and organizers of each sport events.
Accredited persons from European Union countries who bring with them the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), valid for the period of their stay, will have the same treatment as provided to Finnish citizens. It is important that the participants have the EHIC and travel insurance with them.
If there will be a need for after-treatment, it will be done either at public health care units or at the Dextra medical center 15 (Raumantie 1a, 00350 Helsinki, tel. +358 (0)9 560 160, www.dextra.fi). Dextra is private company, so make sure that you are able to pay your treatment! The center accepts cash, Finnish bank cards and all well known credit cards. In case of a major and severe accident or sickness the patient will be transported to the Jorvi central hospital (Turuntie 150, Espoo, tel. +358 (0)9 8611, http://www.hus.fi/jorvi). The emergency phone number in Finland is 112. Please remind that the rules of the SELL Games require adequate medical and travel insurance from each competitor!
