Aalto Community
- Updated 27.2.2012
What is the Aalto community like? Is it open, talkative, critical, fair, easygoing, high flying, rakish? Or perhaps something completely different?
The communal activity within the student union divides roughly into three categories: new students, culture and student associations. Additionally, the sector chews on other community building issues, volunteer work and the symbols and traditions of AYY.
Issues relating to new students include organizing and developing student tutoring, the reception of new students and the preparation of the Aalto First Year Experience. AYY not only cooperates closely with the university but also organizes its own events for new students and tutors.
The culture sector invents, expresses and savors student culture — by which we mean everything that students do. The most visible aspect of this is the different events we organize. These include anniversaries, jubilees, campus parties, the big May Day celebrations and perhaps even sand castle building contests, who knows!
Associations form the rock solid foundation for all communal activity. They are also important partners in student advocacy and event organization. This is why AYY wishes to offer its student associations the strongest support and the best services available
